Summary: Chloe Sullivan had a normal-ish life before the circle and John Blackwell turned her life upside down and gave new meaning to the unexplained weirdness that goes on in Smallville. Now life's a witch, she's a part of a circle she's not too sure she wants to be bound to, and not only do they have to worry about Witch-Hunters, but unknowingly to them another circle is on the hunt too.

Diana and Greg held the palm that corresponded with the magic they were tied to, placing their own branded palm over one of Chloe's closed eyes. They two shared looks, nervous, neither knowing what they were doing. Diana licked her lips as she closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath as she forced herself to relax. This wouldn't work if she was nervous. But Diana was a nervous worrywart by nature and this was the first time Balcoin and Darkseid magics were working side by side knowingly, openly, and she knew she wasn't the only one nervous about how this might go. She could feel Greg's own anxiety.

Chloe tightened her grip on both of their hands. "Guys?"

"Yeah?" Greg asked.

"Relax." The blonde sounded like she was darkly amused. "I'm not going to bite you." There was a pause. "I don't think."

Diana snorted, keeping her eyes closed. "Way to relax us."

"Yeah, sorry." The blonde sounded like she was pouting.

And yet, Diana was grinning and she could hear Greg chuckling, the two dark haired teens already more relaxed.

"Just," Chloe cleared her throat, "breathe in and out slowly."

Diana did as told, breathing in deeply through her nose and out through her mouth.

"Concentrate on my voice, on the words I'm saying." Chloe's voice softened, forcing Diana to concentrate harder to understand what she was saying. "Feel your body relaxing, your stress slowly leaving, warmth creeping up through the floor into your toes and legs, up your calves and thighs."

Diana gave a little shiver as that warmth filled her, rising up her abdomen, goosebumps appearing on her skin.

"Your body feels heavier than usual." Chloe's voice went softer and softer, forcing Diana to concentrate harder and harder, blocking out everything that wasn't Chloe. "There's a deep darkness all around you, and a thudding; it's loud and steady."

"Your heartbeat." Greg's voice was odd, slurred, almost as if he were about to fall asleep.

"Right," Chloe praised, her voice so soft now it was almost inaudible, the thudding noise she'd mentioned before now echoing around the cavern like drums in the darkest of nights. "Listen to that heartbeat, concentrate on it, I need you to-"

But Diana couldn't hear the rest, that beating drowning out Chloe's words. She felt like she was in a trance, terrified for a moment when she realized that Chloe had disappeared in the darkness, but when Diana felt another hand in hers, she turned her head and found Greg standing beside her, her fear dying as she realized that it'd worked. They were in a trance. But where exactly were they?

"What now?" she asked the boy, since he was the one who'd seen the block in Chloe before.

Greg shrugged. "I don't know."

Diana licked her lips, looking around them at the endless darkness. "Where exactly are we?"

Greg cast his brown gaze around them as well. "Your guess is as good as mine." He cleared his throat. "Scales! You around?"

Diana eyed him. "I doubt she can manifest in here. That's her physical manifestation when she's outside of Chloe. Here she's pure energy."

"Right." Greg frowned. "So I guess we're on our own then, flying completely blind."

"I wouldn't say completely blind." Diana raised their joined hands. "How I see it, we're both psychic links to the two extremely powerful magics inside of her, we'll figure something out. I think getting this far was probably the hardest part."

"But where is here?" Greg wanted to know. "It's just darkness," he growled. "It's as dark as the damned caves!"

Diana sent him a look before clearing her throat as she reached her hand out slowly in the darkness, her heart skipping a beat when her hand pressed up against something smooth. "Greg, put your hand out slowly."

"Why?" He frowned.

"What does Chloe do when she needs something from the Caves?" Diana asked.

"But these aren't the Caves." And yet, Greg saw her hand pressed up against seemingly nothing, the boy gulping as he reached out with his own hand, palm finding a surface as well which he pressed against.

Immediately, the symbol on Greg's forehead and the one on Diana's palm erupted into light as the darkness around them transformed into the most magnificent cave structure they'd ever seen in their lives. They didn't know what material the cave itself was made out of, but it glowed, symbols and jewels embedded in the walls, floors and ceiling of the caverns and tunnels.

"Whoa..." Greg's eyes widened, staring at a gigantic ruby encrusted with a spell carved into it.

Diana moved towards one of the amethysts, pulling Greg with her, staring at a scene playing out on the giant jewel. The scene was of Gabe Sullivan sitting down next to a distraught Chloe, the man pale, as was the girl, as he reached over and raised her chin so that she was looking at him. He then opened his mouth, but whatever he said was muted. The girl stared up at him, tears in her eyes as she looked away, face ashen as she nodded before throwing herself into his arms and hugging him tightly.

"Mr Sullivan," Greg whispered sadly. "With all that's happened, it's easy to forget that we've lost him. That she did."

Diana cleared her throat, looking away, missing the man more than she wanted to admit. "We can't get sidetracked. We need to find what we're looking for. The blocked area." She pressed her hand against the cave wall, Greg doing the same, both envisioning this blockage.

Immediately, a pathway lit up in royal purple.

The two dark haired teens shared a look before beginning to follow, walking hand in hand, turning left and right, both in awe at the different incredible sights in Chloe's psyche. Some gems had spells, some had memories, some had symbols. The Balcoin and Darkseid symbols were all over the place, but the symbol that dominated this cave system was the winged serpent within the heptagon. It seemed to be Chloe's very own personal symbol representing her as a person.

Finally, they found the block; they knew what it was immediately. It really wasn't that hard to figure out really. Nope. Not at all. There was a section of the caves in Chloe's mind that was literally blocked off. A wall of some sort had come up, made of a completely different sort of material than the cave system itself, which proved that it was foreign in nature.

The wall itself seemed to be made of something that looked like titanium and yet seemed a hundred times stronger to them, the magical energy it put off was incredible. That wasn't the most worrisome part though. No. What worried the two dark haired teens the most was the fact that the edges of the arched wall were decorated with symbols of dragons.

This was definitely something from Apokalips.

But what was that symbol in the middle of the wall? Neither of them had seen the symbol before. It almost looked like a very fancy, tribal Z.

Diana and Greg drew closer to the wall, the two taking in deep breaths before they placed their hands on it.

Images flashed before their eyes, images of Chloe running, of her being chased by an unseen force, of the blonde standing at the top of a cliff before being slashed across her back, eight slash marks drawing blood and pushing her closer and closer to the edge... And then in another place entirely, a monster with blue reptilian eyes jerked as if hit, raising its claws to see blood dripping from them.

Those images then returned to show Chloe in a dark bubble, Whitney trapped outside, a circle of fire separating them from creatures that watched, a bloody butterfly crawling out of her lips and taking flight into the darkness as it turned into a foul beast... The beast flying until reaching the dragon from before, crying out a song that was remarkably haunting, causing the dragon to slowly back away.

The images then changed to Chloe pressed against a wall, eyes wide on the man who'd taken her from the courtyard, her fingers curled and, unknowingly to her, her nails were claws that dug into the walls as her chest rose and fell, her eyes shifting and scales appearing on her cheekbones in reaction to this man... and the images were of them kissing... and then of him clawing at her back... of her dress ripping... and then she was pushing him away.

That was when they saw it, the symbol on his ring. It was the same as the one on the door.

The dark haired teens, both flushed from what they'd witnessed, kept their palms pressed against the wall as they tried to force the wall down, or at least open, but it wouldn't budge.

Greg finally turned to Diana as they dropped their hands from the wall. "Do you think she slept with him?"

"No." Diana shook her head.

"Because it looked like-"

"She was trying to use her Enthrallment on him." Diana licked her lips. "Though it did look like she was more affected by him than she expected to be."

Greg took in a deep breath. "She's blocked because of him."

Diana couldn't deny that. "But it doesn't seem like he actually did it on purpose."

"No," and Greg looked annoyed having to admit that, "it looked almost like, the moment she arrived in Apokalips, something happened that connected them, whether he wanted it to or not."

Diana licked her lips, frowning as she looked up at the symbol. "He let her go."

"What?" Greg frowned.

"At the courtyard." Diana worried her bottom lip. "He didn't even try to stop her. We couldn't hear most of what they were saying because it was too far away, but I could tell from his body language that he wasn't going to stop her from leaving. Why?"

"What does it matter?" Greg wanted to know.

"The others wanted her to stay, that was obvious," Diana pushed. "Why not him?"

Greg frowned harder. "I don't know. Maybe, like you said, whatever happened was whether he wanted it or not and he wanted her gone so he wouldn't have to do whatever he'd have to do."

"Or maybe because it'd already happened." Diana pointed to the wall accusingly. "Maybe – I don't get the connection – Chloe hasn't explained anything to us yet – but I'm feeling that there's a deeper connection between her and that place." She licked her lips. "Maybe even her and him."

"Like what? You think they might be mates or something?" Greg snickered, before his eyes went wide in horror when he saw her expression. "No! NO! I refuse to believe-!"

Diana motioned to the wall in Chloe's mind. "He's got real estate in her psyche, Greg! Obviously this guy is important somehow! And I never said mates! That was you. But they are obviously connected to each other somehow."

"I don't like this," Greg grumbled.

"Me neither," she agreed. "But at least I don't think that the Caves are in any danger from this wall or whatever is behind it."

"And how do you reckon that?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Put your hand back on the wall."

"You put your hand back on the wall." He blushed. "I do not want to see more of that. Especially not when we're holding hands!" His blush was growing darker. "It's weird."

Diana bit back a smirk, amused as always when Greg "Bad Boy" Arkin proved himself much more this "Bug Boy" he kept hating on, although she couldn't figure out why he hated his old self so much. "Just-" She grabbed his hand and pressed it against the wall.

Immediately, images of Chloe pressed against the bed flooded their minds, the blonde whimpering as the man above her kissed her deeply, slipping his clawed hand around her body to pull her tighter to him. She whimpered, kissing him deeper, hips rolling, twin hisses of pleasure escaping their lips as she brushed against his hardness.

The blushing teens removed their hands from the wall as if burned.

"I hate you." Greg covered his eyes with his free hand.

Diana giggled, horribly embarrassed but amused too. "Whatever's behind that wall only seems to have to do with those two. Not anything else."

"That guy tried to feed me to Pterodactyls," Greg grumbled. "She has some 'splaining to do."

"I still say she was trying to Enthrall him." Diana eyed the design on the wall thoughtfully. "And it got way out of control."

Greg eyed the design as well, able to feel the power in the symbol, the way it connected with Chloe. "This probably has something to do with that."

"Probably, yeah." Diana nodded in agreement as she took in a deep breath. "We should go back. We've learned all we can for now and we need to get ready to leave for the battle."

Greg nodded before pausing. "One second, there was one thing I Saw that I didn't understand."

Diana turned towards him in confusion. "What was it?"

He reached out and placed his palm against a cave wall, but instead of another pathway lighting up, the wall shifted into a golden mirror upon which shapes started appearing.

Jason and Davis sat in the cave Moira had been hiding in all this time, listening to the radio as it broadcasted about the simultaneous "attacks of terror" that had razed entire cities to the ground. They knew these cities well, knew that the five places mentioned as completely destroyed were home to Five of the Clans. The two sat in silence, shaken to their core, listening in shock as the reporter declared that reports were of another attack happening in Smallville, Kansas, home to the last standing House.

There was a witch on the inside who was reporting on what was going on, safe at the moment but audibly shaken, recounting the deaths and brutality she'd witnessed before getting to safety and finding a phone to call the magical community's global news radio station to let them know that despite it all, somehow, Smallville was still standing. For now.

The magical community was reeling from the blow they'd received in one night, and the shattered remnants were all focused on one fight, in one small town as the battle for the House of Balcoin began.

There'd been hugs, whispers of love, orders to take care of themselves and each other, before Chloe closed herself in the cavern. She kicked off her shoes, strengthening her connection with the Caves as she held her hands above her head, eyes closed tightly. The blonde took in a deep breath, feeling the magic rippling through her body and down her back as if she were slipping on a silk dress. At first it knocked the air out of her lungs, leaving her breathless, but she managed to breathe in once, twice, and after that it was easy, the witch keeping her mind open, the psychic energy in the room incredible. It pushed her psyche outwards, giving her a view of the whole town. She frowned, seeing the soldiers surrounding Smallville, keeping anyone from being able to escape. She could see them killing indiscriminately, be they woman, child or elderly.

Shaking her head, Chloe licked her lips, concentrating, before a smile curved, watching as a shield began to descend over Smallville, trapping the soldiers inside as they had trapped others. It was adding extra strain to her already strained body but Chloe pushed back the pain and concentrated on the group of witches and humans leaving the Bleeding Caves, speaking to their minds, making sure that they could hear her. She guided them, able to see their surroundings, know where their enemies were before they did, and it was with this knowledge that they were able to keep advancing, slowly taking a little bit of their town back, the humans finally making it to the gun store and able to load up on weapons.

A trail of blood made its way down her nostril but she brushed it away, closing her eyes tighter as the group broke apart into four groups, the blonde having to concentrate harder to keep an eye on all of the groups at the same time.

She warned Van and his group about the soldiers coming upon them from the side before warning Greg and his group about the soldiers sneaking up behind them, the blonde then yelling to Cassie's group that there were a group of humans barricading themselves in the church who were under attack and wouldn't be able to hold out for much longer. As soon as the message was relayed, she watched Whitney in worry, seeing his eyes tint reddish as he fought, but he seemed in control of himself and she couldn't keep her attention on him, the witch finding herself having to warn Nathan's dad about the trap he was about to walk into.

As the groups continued to slowly separate more and more, and the fighting grew, Chloe's attention had to focus on more and more people.

Her hand went to her forehead and she whimpered at the throbbing pain that pierced her skull as more blood began to trail down her nose.
