Summary: Chloe Sullivan had a normal-ish life before the circle and John Blackwell turned her life upside down and gave new meaning to the unexplained weirdness that goes on in Smallville. Now life's a witch, she's a part of a circle she's not too sure she wants to be bound to, and not only do they have to worry about Witch-Hunters, but unknowingly to them another circle is on the hunt too.

Chloe stared at the Dragon Egg floating in awe, her eyes wide.

"That's my daughter, Trista." Vika appeared next to her, sadness plain on her features as she reached out and placed her hand on the shell. "Or, well, that's her energy. Her body rotted away a very long time ago inside there, it's just her magic that lives on. She's been my one and only companion these long and lonesome years in this cave."

The blonde sent the woman next to her a sideways glance, able to hear the emotion thick in her voice. "Did you love your daughter?"

"Of course I did. What sort of question is that?" Tears filled Vika's eyes as she reached out and rested her forehead against the unblemished eggshell. "I would have gladly given my life so she could have lived her own to completion."

Chloe gulped. "Didn't you feel used? Didn't you feel that Rao only married you to have this child so that he could have his world domination? Didn't you resent her for the fact that she was the reason you'd gone through all you had?"

"What fault of that was hers? Truly?" Vika wanted to know, eyes closed and tears falling down her pale cheeks. "No matter what sort of monster her father was, I adored this child, and would have only grown to love her more and more with every breath she took." She caressed the egg as she pulled away with a soft sigh. "I wanted to hold her in my arms so badly, the thought that I'd at least have her was my only comfort, and then I lost her…" Vika opened her eyes and turned them on Chloe. "I could handle losing Rao, Dragon or not, he was only a man, but I couldn't handle losing hernot my daughter."

Chloe couldn't speak, couldn't find her voice.

"I hate myself for putting another mother through the pain I myself have gone through for so long," Vika admitted. "But I selfishly admit that my comfort is that in this lifetime, you were not born, so your mother will not mourn."

Chloe gave a dark laugh, the tears that had been prickling at her eyes finally running down as she brushed at them with the back of her hand resentfully. "Even if, that woman wouldn't have cared."

"Don't say that," Vika whispered. "She's your mother."

"She's nothing to me," Chloe snapped. "Especially not now." The blonde took in a deep breath before she eyed the woman in front of her. She wanted to hate Vika with every bit of her, and yet she couldn't, and she knew why. Maybe the reason why Chloe couldn't hate the woman made her weak, or maybe it meant the half-Dragon was more human than she'd given herself credit. "We're going to be stuck together for eternity, so I guess we should be amicable about it."

Vika nodded, a small smile tilting her lips. "I would like that."

"You took me away from everyone I loved… But no matter how much I hate to say it, I understand why you did what you did." Chloe narrowed her eyes on Vika as she contemplated her and the Dragon Egg behind her, unable to hate a woman who loved her daughter that much. "And hearing you speak about your dead daughter like that makes me wish my mother felt even a hint of that for her living one. Or, at least, while I was living."

Vika sighed. "I am sure she loved you, in her own way."

"I guess we'll never know." Chloe licked her lips as she wiped at her teary eyes. "So… Why don't you give me a tour?"

Vika smiled softly and held out her hand.

Chloe stared at it thoughtfully, warily, before she took in a deep breath and placed her hand in hers.

Mikhail didn't know what that pain was, but it was intense. It was almost as if he was alive, but a crucial part of him was beginning to die.

A knock sounded on the door.

"Enter," General Zod announced, his voice echoing through the church.

The doors opened and the sound of footsteps drew nearer. "It is done as commanded. The Six have been broken, magic is dying."

Mikhail's eyes widened in horror as he realized what that meant for Cassie and himself. If they didn't find a way to escape before their magic died, or weakened to a certain extent, they were going to be discovered!

"Good." Rao Darkseid's voice was dark satisfaction. "What of the Firstborn?"

"He's weakened but alive, as is John Balcoin."

"Make sure they both remain that way," Rao ordered. "I have further use for them."

"What of the others?"

There was a snort. "They serve no purpose."

Mikhail clenched his fists tightly.

"Understood." The sound of footsteps retreating could be heard as the doors closed and giant wings taking flight echoed through the night.

"We must go," General Zod announced as he moved towards the baptismal font, towards the Dragon Egg.

"She was to be yours."

General Zod froze in his tracks. "What did you say?"

"I had intended her for you," Rao replied. "You were always like a son to me, and I could think of no better surviving bloodline to mix with my own to create a new race of Dragons." He took in a deep breath. "It would have been much simpler had things gone to plan and she survived. It should have worked, it was supposed to, it's how I know that someone has interfered somehow, that some unnatural magic has conspired against me. Otherwise I would not have risked the rituals I did – the magics I did – not if there'd been a chance that I could fail." He slammed his fist into something and sent it flying to the ground. "There was supposed to be no risk of my child not being a female, or not being born! Not when so much rested on her shoulders! Not when through her, I had planned on seeing the continuing of my bloodline." He paced. "My bloodline would be the dominant on the planet. My bloodline would be the one common denominator in them all. My bloodline would be the new key of life, the new spark of existence! I would be the new creator! I'd be the father of a new race of Dragons that could all trace their parentage to one common link: me."

There was a lot of ego in this building.

"And you were meant to help me accomplish this."

There was a pause. "You say she was to be mine, but do not think I do not understand the implication of what you mean when you say that your bloodline was to be the common denominator in this new race."

There was a throaty chuckle. "That is why I have always favored you, Dru-Zod. Even from a hatchling, you were always smarter than those centuries older." Rao took in a deep breath. "It doesn't matter, until I can discover what magic is keeping her an Unhatchling, none of this matters." He moved around the baptismal font. "I believe the humans have done this believing that with a male heir, I am weaker – that they stand a better chance of winning."

"They cannot win either way," General Zod snorted. "But strategically speaking, it would be a sound plan."

"So one would think."

Mikhail narrowed his eyes, confused.

Two seconds ago, that was exactly what he'd thought. Get rid of the Dragon Egg and at least the Dragons would never have a chance at procreating and would eventually die off, even if it took them hundreds of years to do so. But why would having the key to the Dragons' survival be of benefit to the witches? It made no sense!

"The magic I performed, the rites and the incantations, the preparations I made, were for a daughter." Rao caressed the egg. "The only reason my magic entered the boy was to fulfill my pact with his father and give me the child I'd need, but it was only enough to allow him the shift. Everything else is within this Unhatchling." His fingernails grew to claws, almost as if he were fighting the urge to claw away at the shell. "That boy might be the most powerful witch, but he does not have the power needed to face me and live. This child on the other hand…" His smile was filled with awe and creepy wonder as those claws carefully traced the shell. "The power from the magics I conjured – the power inside this Unhatchling – I had to make sure that she was strong enough to be the mother of a new race – dark enough to fill this world with shadows darker than Apokalips could have ever dreamt of." Rao smiled, and it was all teeth. "The moment they kept her from being born, they doomed themselves."

General Zod frowned. "Why are you happy?"

"Because their magic is dying, and so it will soon be over. Once they are all dead, once this dimension is ours, then I will find the magic keeping her Unhatched, and I will conquer it, and she will Hatch." Rao smirked as he turned his back on them. "They have lost. And now we will destroy them and we must find a way to Hatch my true child before we too are destroyed." With that he stormed away. "Come, General, we must go!"

General Zod eyed Rao's back before he nodded and reached his hand out towards the baptismal font, eyes going reptilian as the large, silver Dragon Egg floated towards the Dragon-in-human-form, who stared at it with narrowed gaze before taking it with him out of the church.

The sound of bones cracking and giant wings flapping against the night sky betrayed the two Dragons' departure, but Mikhail remained where he was, his back pressed harder against the stall as he took in a deep breath and tried to reconcile everything he'd heard.

Cassie appeared at the corner of his eye and looked as pale as he felt, her eyes wide. "Did you know anything about what he was talking about? Anything at all? Did dad mention anything-?"

Mikhail shook his head.

She collapsed to her knees. "We're screwed."

He nodded, not able to see a way in which they didn't die horribly.

"We need to get out of here before our magics die out completely and those creatures are able to pick up our scents." Cassie stood.

Mikhail snorted. "And go where?" He gazed ahead of him into the darkness. "You heard them. The safehouse has fallen and everyone's dying. There's nowhere safe to go anymore."

Cassie frowned. "So you're just gonna give up?"

He looked up at her. "You didn't answer me. Where. Would. We. Go?" He took in a deep breath. "At least we know they won't be back here for tonight. It'll give us some time to come up with a semblance of a plan." He shook his head in disgust. "I swear, you're such an idiot. All balls and no brain."

Cassie glared at him before she slumped down on one of the stalls and glared into the darkness.

Mikhail merely stared up at the darkness, eyes narrowed as his brown orbs noticed a flutter of small wings in the darkest corner of the church's ceiling.

"I hope you know what you're doing and you don't get us killed," Tess hissed to Diana.

Yeah, I hope so too. Diana didn't say those words out loud, but she thought them as they climbed the inside narrow wooden ladder to Black Tower, eyes on the skies and any creature that might be in it. The tower was 11 meters high with a glass roof and, while it had been built in the 14th century, it had a pyramid-shaped glass roof that was constructed in 1995 that had somehow managed to survive the destruction of the city. Then again, Black Tower and Black Church had not only survived the two fires in Braşov, which had been caused by "lightning", but they'd both survived the apocalypse as well, so they were sturdy buildings, and that gave her some courage as she continued to climb the massive tower that stood atop a rock on Starja Hill near what remained of the Blacksmith's Bastion.

Finally, they reached the top floor, the fourth, and entered the room Diana had seen in the golden mirror.

"Now what?" Lex raised his eyebrow.

"This is just a waste of time." John narrowed his eyes on Diana. "You're putting us all in danger. We should-" He reached his hand to grab Diana.

Byron reached out and grabbed John's hand, stopping him from touching her. "Let her do what she has to do."

Diana sent her brother a grateful smile before she took in a deep breath and looked. The brunette moved towards the middle of the room, where she'd seen Chloe standing, and grabbed her pendant, waiting for a moment, though she wasn't sure for what exactly. She tightened her grip on the pendant, trying her best to ignore the look on John's face because she knew that this was where she was supposed to be,knew that she was supposed to wait.

But for what?

"Enough." John sighed as he ran his hand over his hair. "Diana, I understand that you are stressed, and that it has you believing that you are seeing things, but Mikhail is my Eye, not you. If anyone were to be receiving visions, it would be him."

She ignored John, as she usually did, and instead turned. "Do you feel that?"

"Feel what?" Byron asked, eyes narrowed.

"The energy outside, it – shifted."

John sighed. "Our magic is dying, Diana. You're feeling the effects of-"

Diana moved towards the windows and stared at the panoramic view below, her gaze immediately drawn towards the Black Church below at Council Square. Brown eyes widened in shock. "Oh my gods."

Those with her moved towards her, silence falling on them as they too saw what she did.

Below them weren't the ruined remains of the Black Church and Council Square, instead Braşov stood in its glory, people mulling around in contentedness, going about their everyday life as if the apocalypse hadn't happened.

"What's going on?" Tess whispered, eyes wide. "Where did all those people come from? Are they Dragons?"

"No." Lex shook his head. "Look at their clothes." He cleared his throat. "What we're seeing isn't real. It's a Repeat." He turned his blues on Diana. "Whoever's sent you your visions wanted you to see whatever you're going to see right now."

Byron brought his hand down on Diana's shoulder and squeezed it tightly.

Diana licked her lips nervously, eyes on the people below.

John narrowed his eyes on his eldest daughter.

"Oh my god." Diana's eyes widened as she recognized a woman walking through the crowd from the books she'd studied while in her isolation in the safehouse. "I know that woman."

"Who is she?" Tess asked as she turned towards the brunette.

"One of the strongest Eyes we're ever had in our family." John's face went blank as he answered for his daughter. "Cristabella Balcoin."

Ohhhh my poor Chloe. I just want to huggle her. Hearing Vika's love for her own daughter must of been heart wrenching for Chloe.

Ohhh goodness. Is Chloe's egg going to reappear again while Mikhail and Cassie are there. And what is Diana going to see???

I need more. More. More.
