Summary: Chloe Sullivan had a normal-ish life before the circle and John Blackwell turned her life upside down and gave new meaning to the unexplained weirdness that goes on in Smallville. Now life's a witch, she's a part of a circle she's not too sure she wants to be bound to, and not only do they have to worry about Witch-Hunters, but unknowingly to them another circle is on the hunt too.

Faye felt warm and safe, her eyes fluttering open as she gave a little groan. She figured that a part of her should be wondering where she was since this wasn't her room, but she'd gotten used to sneaking into Byron's room and it no longer seemed weird to wake up in his bed, curled in his arms. In fact, she might get that disoriented weirdness if she woke up in her room, and the realization made her chuckle as she rubbed his naked stomach, those hard abs, softly in a caress. She might've taken his innocence, but Byron was a quick learner and had quickly made up for any fumbles he'd made in the beginning of their lovemaking, and damn it, since when had Faye started to think of sex as lovemaking?

Her lips curled in a smirk as she gazed at Byron's sleeping face. He was seriously more than she could handle sometimes. She'd thought that she was in love with Jake Armstrong when they'd been together, but Byron? Well, he'd somehow gotten under her skin and had the ability to truly break her, and that really scared her sometimes. The only thing was that, unlike Jake, she could never see Byron ever doing something like that. Even with the "darkness" inside of Byron, he was the sweetest, nicest person she'd ever met. He was way better than she was, that was for sure. And she still wasn't sure what he saw in her.

He didn't need to do this ritual.

Worry filled her at the very thought and she hated it, hated that she cared this much about him.

"You're boring a hole into my face." His voice was low and sleepy, his eyes still closed.

She blinked, eyes widened. "How long have you been awake, you Creeper?"

He laughed as he opened his eyes. "That's not nice! Something could go wrong today and your last words to me could be calling me a Creeper."

"That's not funny." The witch slapped his chest and sat up in bed with a glare. "Something could go wrong!"

Byron sighed as he looked up at her. "Nothing's going to happen, Faye, I shouldn't've said that."

"You don't know that, it wouldn't've been the first time magic has gone wonky." Faye glared down at her boyfriend as she hugged the sheets to her chest. "Why can't you just have a normal binding spell like the rest of us? Why do you have to insist that she does this? You know Chloe doesn't want to."

For a moment the younger boy didn't answer, merely leaned up on his elbows as he eyed her, and then he took in a deep breath. "I killed my family in the other reality."

"That Byron didn't have the darkness removed from him like you did!" Why wasn't Byron getting that? It was pissing her off so badly! "You're not that Byron!"

"I still have darkness in me though, Faye." His eyes showed his determination, betrayed that he wouldn't back down. "I understand that you don't want this, and that Chloe doesn't either, and it makes me love the both of you even more than I already do." He raised his hand to cup Faye's cheek. "But I have to do this or I'll go insane worrying that the darkness in me will be used to kill you." Byron's dark gaze pierced hers. "I could never forgive myself if I hurt you."

Something within her hurt.

What had she ever done to deserve a guy like him?

She was a bitch-at best!

The girl sighed and lowered her gaze as she placed her hand over his chest. "If something happens to you, if this backfires and you die, I'll find someone else, you hear me?" She pressed her hand harder against his heartbeat. "I'm not the type to mourn over someone else."

He chuckled softly and leaned up to press a kiss to her lips. "Stop being so scared, Faye." He pressed his forehead to hers. "This spell will work."

How did he always see through her so easily?

It wasn't fair.

Faye closed her eyes tightly and leaned harder against him, trembling.

"You know, I think this is the most lively I've seen this household in a couple of weeks." Arthur announced as he watched people mulling back and forth. "But I don't think I've seen people this tense though, not when it's come to an actual binding."

"I have to agree with AC." Viktor leaned against the wall as he eyed someone rushing up the stairs. "Why are they so tense? It is a mere binding."

"Unless it isn't a mere binding." Bart stood by the railing staring down at the people below. "There might be more than they're telling us." He sent them a look over his shoulder. "It's not as if we're actually part of the inner circle."

Zatanna Le Fay moved below, conversing in low tones with Adam Tentagel, the two of them carrying covered baskets and wearing concerned expressions on their faces as they moved out the front door.

"Le Fay and my brother are definitely in the know." Arthur pursed his lips as the door closed behind them.

"Le Fay and your brother are a part of Sullivan's Circles, of course they are in the know." Viktor tilted his head to the side as he took in a deep breath. "I've talked to her about it, and while she regrets her choices on joining Chloe's Darkseid Circle, it isn't for the reason one would've thought."

Bart turned to lean his back on the railing.

Arthur also turned his attention on Viktor. "You asked Le Fay if she regretted becoming a part of Chloe Sullivan's Circle?"

"Of course. If she hadn't, she would've been the head of the Le Fay household. Because of her choice the House of Le Fay might technically live on, but it will never be a Sixth. We are now the Five, if you think about it, so it was a valid question." Viktor eyed his fellow Heads of Houses.

Bart and Arthur shared looks before Arthur turned his gaze back on Viktor. "So, what did Le Fay say then?"

Viktor tilted his head to the side. "She said that she regretted her actions, but only because she forced a bond on someone else, not because of not being able to be the head of the Le Fay House. If anything, she's glad it won't ever rise again."

Arthur snorted. "That's harsh. Maybe it is better that there are only Five."

"Correction, Four." Bart turned his back on them once more and stared down at the others. "My father disowned me, so I can understand Le Fay. Technically the Sigan bloodline will continue to live on through me, but the House will never rise again. And I don't have a problem with that." He smirked. "I'm going to go see if they need help." And with that, the younger boy left Arthur and Viktor by themselves, his destination Mikhail and Lucas, who were heading towards the door and were talking amongst themselves.

"Four." Arthur raised an eyebrow as he turned his gaze over to Viktor. "You're not going to come up with a reason why you're magically unable to lead the Wylt House, right? Because this is getting ridiculous."

Viktor let out a deep breath. "I have no particular desire to lead, and to be truthful, who is there to lead anymore? But there is no magical impediment that would keep me from fulfilling that obligation, no."

"Good." Arthur nodded as he folded his arms over his chest. "The Four then. Tentagel, Wylt, Luthor and Balcoin." He made a face. "The new World Order."

Viktor snorted as his gaze returned to the commotion. "I think we need to concentrate more on winning this war first, then we can get around to figuring any of that other stuff out."

"I'm just saying that this is the same guy who had him locked up for years," Diana set the Blue Lace Agate around the perimeter of the inside of the cave room. "Should we really be trusting him? Sure he gave Byron to us, but he also basically threw Chloe to the wolves, so to speak, when it came to Byron. Are we forgetting this?"

Greg looked up at her as he followed behind, laying down Clear Quartz Crystals on the inside of the circle of Blue Lace Agates. "He's also his uncle, who was taking care of him for years and who cares about him, D. He's always done everything he can to help Byron, you can't doubt that he'd change that now."

Diana paused and looked over her shoulder at him. "I know, but still, this is Chloe and Byron."

Greg eyed her from where he was bent on his knees, large raw chunk of crystal in hand. "Exactly. They'll be fine."

Diana licked her lips. "The last time Chloe did something concerning the darkness in Byron she left us, Greg. She went to Rao and got her memories wiped and-."

Greg put down his Clear Quartz Crystal and stood, moved to where she was, and knelt down once more as he placed his hand on her shoulder. "Everything's going to be alright, D."

Diana's worried brown eyes rose to him. "How can you be so sure? Can you See something I don't?"

"No." The Darkseid Cyclops shook his head. "But Chloe's not going to leave us again, okay? And this is Byron. She's going to make sure he comes out okay. She even had Tina look over the stones and made sure that they fit exactly what Morgan Edge said they would for the ritual, didn't she? Nothing is being left to chance."

Taking in a deep breath, the brunette nodded and gave him a wobbly smile. "Right."

"And if anything happens, we'll be here to help. That's why it's a Circle." Greg leaned closer. "Neither of them will be in this alone."

This time Diana's smile more genuine. "You're right. Thanks."

Greg grinned. "What are fellow Liaison Agents for?"

Diana's smile went tender as she tilted her head. "True."

The two dark haired teens shared smiles before they suddenly cleared their throats and pulled away.

Diana licked her lips and pulled a dark strand of hair behind her hair. "We should, uh, get back to work and get this room ready."

Greg nodded. "True."

They shared another small smile before getting back to work. They had more stones and patterns that they had to lay down in time for the ritual since Chloe didn't want to use "Cerebro" (as they were calling the room that enhanced psychic abilities) because it didn't contain those abilities inside the Caves, and that was something Chloe wanted for this spell. So that was why they were having to use all these crystals and make their own makeshift Cerebro.

Blue Lace Agate for its stimulating, positive effect on emotions and attitude. It also inspired loyalty and trustworthiness.

Goshenite for its high-frequency, spiritually-guidance that resonated to the frequency of Truth, offering a clear and honest look into the self and aided in discerning the sincerity of others. It promoted truthfulness above all, and encouraged fidelity in relationships, honoring loyalty and respect, perseverance and open-heartedness.

Dalmatian Stone because it encouraged fidelity and emotional harmony, strengthened family bonds and long-term friendships.

Pyrite, was masculine in nature, a stone of action, vitality and will, and tapped into one's abilities and potential. It was a unique protector, drawing energy from the Earth through the physical body and into the aura creating a defensive shield against negative energies, environmental pollutants, emotional attack and physical harm. It also supported one with a spirit of boldness and assertive action when protecting others.

Black Tourmaline had, in ancient times, been used as protection from earth demons, and was still revered as a premier talisman of protection. It was a psychic shield deflecting and dispelling negative energies, entities, or destructive forces. It was highly useful in purifying and neutralizing one's own negative thoughts and internal conflicts, and turning them into positive, usable energy.

Kambaba Jasper was the stone of Peace and Tranquility, and, according to Tina, its dark mystic circles and deep green swirls comforted and protected, calmed and relaxed, soothing troubled minds and restored balance to the body and spirit. Its slow, steady frequency was supposed to grant the release of negative thoughts and feelings, especially those that plague one's consciousness on a continual basis.

Serandite was there for one simple reason: to promote harmony. It held a loving energy that permitted an ease of connection and encouraged tolerance and acceptance.

Blue Tourmaline was a crystal of Spirit and peace, providing for deep meditation and bringing past hurts to the surface for healing. It encouraged the release of emotional bonds and freed the mind to explore a higher consciousness and spiritual connection. Blue Tourmaline increased the ability for clear and honest communication, and encouraged an open mind.

Tanzanite was one of the most valuable of all metaphysical crystals for spiritual exploration, bringing together all aspects of communication and psychic power. Its high vibrational energy invited protection and safety in linking with higher realms, and allowed for deep profound meditation. It was particularly helpful in uniting the mind and heart, teaching one to live with an illumined mind.

And last but not least, Clear Quartz Crystal to amplify the other stones for the ritual.

Greg looked up at Diana as he placed one down, his lips curling in a soft smile.

Diana met his gaze and smiled back.

"Are you ready for your part in this ritual?" Zatanna asked Adam curiously as they made their way towards the Bleeding Caves. "This will be one of your more active participations since becoming Doppelgänger, right? Other than the wearing of the bracelet, of course."

"Ritualistically," he agreed with a nod of his head, biting the inside of his cheek nervously. "I know my part, that isn't the issue."

"But you're still nervous," the witch guessed.

Adam nodded and took in a deep breath. "I suppose I am still learning what it means, to be her Doppelgänger, and that her magic sees me as an extension of her… What I can do and how I can help her during rituals like this one..."

"At least you can be of use like this." Zatanna raised an eyebrow, face displeased. "So far the only way I've been able to make myself useful is by making breakfast and doing her hair and such. Magically I've been useless." The Le Fay heiress made a face. "She must think I'm a waste of Circle space."

Adam eyed the girl thoughtfully. "I doubt she thinks that."

Zatanna met his gaze and shook her head. "I would if I was her."

"You're not her." Adam cleared his throat. "You'll find a way to feel useful. It'll just take some time."

The dark haired beauty frowned softly. "Hopefully not too long. We're in the middle of a war."

"So, how are you feeling?" Lucas could see Adam and Zatanna walking a good distance ahead of them but couldn't hear what they were saying, which was good, because that meant they couldn't hear what he and Mikhail were saying either. Despite having left Chloe around the same time the boys were a little behind Adam and Zatanna because they'd stopped to send Bart to where Chloe was so she could decide whether she wanted to use his help or not.

"About what exactly?" Mikhail raised an eyebrow. "The part where he gets to become a part of the Circle before me? Or the part where it's risky?"

"Both, I suppose."

"I'm not happy with either." Mikhail was blunt as always. "But to be honest, it's not really my place. And if I said anything it could jeopardize my appointment, so I'm just going to do my part silently without complaint." He pursed his lips. "Plus, I was the one who died in the other reality because he went darkside, so I guess it helps me not be too resentful."

Lucas nodded as he gazed ahead of him. "It still must suck though, being the last interested Balcoin to join her Circle."

"You have no idea."

Like all the information on the crystals.

It's very interesting in hearing what's going on with the rest of the circles.

Did I sense something brewing between Diana and Greg?

Diana and Greg are definitely growing closer due to their being the "eyes" of Chloe's two Circles.
