Title: The New Circle
Fandoms: Smallville/Secret Circle
Characters: Chloe Sullivan, Whitney Fordman, Greg Arkin, Cassie Blake, Diana Meade, Mikhail Balcoin, Lucas Dunleavy, Faye Chamberlain, Byron Moore...
Rating: T
Disclaimer: Don't own
Summary: Chloe Sullivan had a normal-ish life before the circle and John Blackwell turned her life upside down and gave new meaning to the unexplained weirdness that goes on in Smallville. Now life's a witch, she's a part of a circle she's not too sure she wants to be bound to, and not only do they have to worry about Witch-Hunters, but unknowingly to them another circle is on the hunt too.

"I'm not going anywhere until you explain something to me!" She glared at him.

"If you do not come with me to Apokalips, you will die," Zod snapped as he yanked his shirt over his head, reptilian blues glaring at her. "How is that for an explanation?"

"Horrible!" she snapped back, licking her lips. "But, you've made the urgency a bit clearer." The girl cleared her throat. "Take a second and explain to me why I'm going to die if we don't go to Apokalips. Arguing with me is only going to waste more time and neither of us want that, right? So, just, work with me."

Zod looked like he was contemplating just throwing her over his shoulder, bed-sheet and all.

"I'll put on my clothes." She figured if she seemed like she was cooperating, he might do the same, the girl backing away as she headed towards her closet. "So you can explain while I'm putting on clothes." She paused. "With your back turned to me."

He took in a deep breath before turning his back to her obediently. "There isn't much I can say, the Council is the only one who knows everything about the Orb and the Stones of Power, but I do know what I've already told you about the Orb, and that the Stones of Power store the knowledge of the known 28 dimensions. They are to ensure that Dragons and our knowledge will always have a chance of survival."

Chloe frowned, letting the sheet drop, sending him a look to make sure he really wasn't looking as she slipped into underwear and a bra from the chest drawer. The girl pulled on jeans and a shirt, going to the closet and pulling out a jean jacket, slipping it on as she stepped into some boots. "The Orb and these Stones both sound… End of Times… ish."

"They were created as last resorts," Zod agreed, back still to her. "It is why I cannot understand why, if what your Sanguine is saying is true, Councilman Seyg would have implemented their use. Especially if he hasn't told the others in the Council what he has done."

"Are you sure this isn't you freaking out about the fact that you're not my only husband and so you're trying to find a way to trick me back to Apokalips?" Chloe wanted to know.

Zod turned around, staring at her, eyes narrowed. "Do you truly believe me that low a creature?" He moved towards her, strides determined. "You do not love me and I do not love you, but I will not let you die like she did. I will not fail you like I failed her." He reached out and grabbed her upper arm, eyes fierce. "I will take you there against your will and I will save you, whether you want me to or not."

Chloe gulped, staring up into his face, not sure what to say to that.

"Now, will you come with me willingly or will I have to physically fight you?" he asked.

Chloe took in a deep breath, staring into those reptilian blues. "If this is a trap…"

"You can easily come back. It is I who risk getting trapped there with their wrath, not you," he reminded her.

She licked her lips. "You really want a kid with me that badly?"

He stared down at her in silence for a moment before the corner of his lips twisted crookedly. "What can I say? I think my eyes would look great with your hair."

Chloe chuckled softly although she was far from amused, more confused than anything else as she looked up at the Dragon who was risking a lot right now. "I never know what to think about you, Dru-Zod."

He eyed her in silence before clearing his throat. "You will need to speak to your subordinates. I will leave you to do that and I will do what I need to do to ready our return to Apokalips." Zod moved towards the door. "Meet me by your Caves." And with that, he opened the door and disappeared through it.

Chloe stared at the door, licking her lips, not sure what to think about anything, before starting towards the door herself.

"Traitors surround me!" Lionel Luthor snarled as he paced back and forth angrily, still able to taste Faora's betrayal burning in his mouth like coal. "You are the only one who hasn't betrayed me, Genevieve, the only one who hasn't questioned me, who has never questioned me." He turned to her. "Even then, you were the one who came to me and told me that they planned to smuggle the boy across to Apokalips.You."

Genevieve was silent, merely watching him pace.

"Did you know that even Lilian questioned me?" Lionel hissed, unable to take how even his children had turned on him back at the Balcoin's residence. "No one understands what I've done, no one understands anything! And all they want to do is judge! Condemn!"

"You've spoiled your children, Lionel," Genevieve finally spoke. "You've been too good to them. You've always been so lenient on them."

"It saddens me to admit you are right, the only one of my children who seems to have some semblance of potential was raised by John Balcoin." Lionel hated having to admit that one, hated seeing that experiment backfire so spectacularly. "I've watched that boy, Genevieve. He's vicious, has no conscience, and while he doesn't have the Luthor Gift like Lex does, he's far more Luthor in so many other ways than any of my other children." He shook his head in disgust. "And yet you've heard him, John has brainwashed him into being the perfect Balcoin soldier. It would be a lot of work to undo that and get that boy under my thumb and in my army before he can be claimed for someone else's Circle."

"You're thinking of binding him to your Circle?" Genevieve narrowed her eyes in shock. "He's a kid."

"He's a Luthor." Lionel narrowed his eyes on Genevieve. "I am still the Patriarch of this Circle, of this Clan, and I need a Circle – a full Circle." He reached out, placing his hand on her shoulder. "You're the only one I accept as a part of my Circle anymore, Genevieve. Faora just got herself kicked out for that boy of hers. She chose her son over her Circle. I knew you'd be smart enough, level-headed enough to choose otherwise."

Genevieve was silent as she frowned before she nodded and took in a deep breath. "So, Lucas." Her multicolored eyes trained on Lionel's. "Who else do you have in mind to take the other's places? With Lucas, you'd have three more places free."

-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v -v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v -v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v -v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v-v -v-v-v-v-

Lucas leaned hard against the wall, staring at the ceiling, feeling so horribly conflicted. A part of him felt like a traitor, filthy, wrong and lower than dirt. And yet another part of him felt whole for the first time in his life, that same part of him was also smug, horribly so, and that made him feel even worse. He tried to stamp down that smugness, reminding himself of so many things, keeping himself humble, because damn it, there was a lot at stake here.

"You know," Mikhail's voice was a drawl, "this whole inner conflict thing is just not you."

Lucas gulped as he opened his eyes and turned to look at his friend who leaned in the doorway. "Don't know what you're talking about."

"It's written on your face and I hate it," Mikhail replied, a muscle jumping in his cheek as he pushed away from the doorway and closed the door behind him with a flick of his wrist. "You see, I'm barely keeping my composure as it is. I'm fucking pissed right now. I want to kill you right now, Lucas. And then you make that face and I feel bad for you and it makes me more pissed off." Mikhail growled, running a hand through his hair as he joined Lucas' side, eyeing the hand Lucas had clenched closed tightly. "C'mon then, let's see."

Lucas took in a deep breath before opening the palm he'd slashed open to prove his point to Chloe's cousin, revealing that the slash was gone and in its place was the design of a bloody handprint with a Balcoin symbol smack-dab in the middle of it.

Mikhail stared at the symbol in silence for a moment before letting out a loud sigh. "So you've taken the position Whitney vacated when Chloe transferred his loyalty from the Balcoin Circle to the Darkseid Circle and became this Sanguine thing." His dark gaze rose to Lucas. "Her magic's made you her new Hand. Although it's a completely different design, you're not a Hamsa like he was."

Lucas finally spoke, knowing how much this had meant to Mikhail, how much the boy had wanted to prove himself to Chloe and become a part (even if unofficially) of her Circle. "I didn't do what I did with the intention to bind myself, bro. You've got to believe me. I was only trying to make a point to that cousin of hers."

"No, you weren't; that's a lie." Mikhail shook his head. "You were making a point to the Luthors." He licked his lips. "And, apparently, you made a point to her magic." The dark haired boy moved away. "I'll admit it, I'm insulted you made Circle member before me, but I can see the bright side."

Lucas wanted desperately for Mikhail to be able to see a bright side to this because he didn't want to lose his best friend.

"I mean," Mikhail continued, "Chloe's got two Circles now. Means there's more room; I still got a chance." He nodded to himself. "Also, you might have been made a Circle member before me – but you were also made a Circle member before Cassie – and she's known Chloe way before any of us – even Diana if you count the dreams they shared." Mikhail managed to crack a crooked smile. "So all in all, I figure this is a good thing. We only have to worry about one of us getting into Chloe's Circle now and not just two."

"True." Lucas smiled back, relief filling him at the outcome, having expected the worse. "So we're okay?"

Mikhail paused, eyeing Lucas, before sighing and nodding. "Yeah, we're okay."

The door opened and Chloe stuck her head in, eyeing the two boys. "Am I interrupting something?"

"You're awake!" Lucas' eyes widened.

"You're married!" Mikhail chose to instead take issue with this, heading towards his sister. "The hell were you going to tell me about this?"

Chloe flinched. "You two, in the office, now." She then paused, eyeing Lucas in confusion. "Have you cut your hair or something while I was asleep?"

Lucas blinked, hands going to his hair despite knowing that no, he had not cut his hair while she was unconscious. "No."

"You sure?" Chloe tilted her head. "Something seems… different… about you."

Lucas' eyes widened as he realized what it was, his gaze going to his palm almost instinctively. Was this a side effect of joining to a Matriarch Circle? He remembered thinking that Whitney, Diana, Greg and Faye were very close to Chloe, and had heard them talking about how things had changed since they'd unofficially joined, or as they'd called it, "been chosen". He'd hated hearing them refer to it as that, being "chosen". It made it seem as if the rest of them weren't worth choosing. And yet now that he'd been chosen, he could slowly feel that oneness he'd heard them talking about amongst themselves. Chloe had always had a way of getting under people's skin, of making them care for her, protective of her, but this seemed different somehow. Lucas couldn't rightly explain it.

"Lucas?" Suddenly Chloe moved forwards, capturing his palm in hers and turning it over with a gasp. "Lucas."

Lucas looked down as Chloe turned over her palm next to his and he could see her heptagon design. It had a winged serpent design and the spikes sticking out from the heptagon were pointing to different symbols. The uppermost spike pointed to the Eye of Ra and opposite it, straight across to the bottom was the All Seeing Eye. To the left of the Eye of Ra was a version of Whitney's Hamsa, which was more ornate and less human, the nails clearly claws, trails of blood dripping off the sharp curved tips, an intricate winged serpent design within the palm. The only other symbol was to the right of the Eye of Ra and was identical to the one on Lucas' palm. He was shocked because despite the fact that Faye was a part of Chloe's Circle she didn't have her symbol as yet. Maybe it was because she wasn't officially bound, hadn't done the binding ritual the others had due to a lack of time. Maybe that was why her symbol had yet to show up. He wondered if the reason why his symbol showed up was because he'd used blood in his own unknowing self-binding ritual.

"You're my Hand," Chloe whispered, voice awed, staring between the matching symbols on their palms. "How? What happened while I was out of it?"

"He basically swore himself with a blood oath to you." Mikhail folded his arms over his chest, accent going a little deeper. "There was bloodletting and everything."

Chloe raised an eyebrow as her gaze returned to Lucas. "Bloodletting."

Lucas gave her a sheepish grin. "That's such a strong word."

Chloe looked between the two of them before taking in a deep breath. "I don't understand anything right now, but if my magic's gone and done this, all I can say is welcome, Lucas." She reached out and engulfed the boy in a tight hug, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. "Also, no more bloodletting."

Lucas was awkward in the hug but returned it, still not used to her physical displays of affection, but enjoying them immensely. They were probably the real reason why he'd stop flirting with her. Not because he'd been nervous because of the extent of her power. No. There was no way that he was going to ruin what he had here by letting romance get in the middle, and in his experience, whenever romance entered the picture, things went to hell. It was why he was protecting what he'd been given and keeping everything strictly platonic, even in appearances. No way was he risking anything.

Chloe seemed to sense that Mikhail needed some sort of reassurance (despite the fact that it wasn't visible on his face) and she smiled at her brother, brushing his hair with her fingers tenderly. "You okay?"

"You're married," he reminded, reaching out and catching her hand, giving it a tight yet not painful squeeze.

The blonde sighed. "That's not the last of it."

Lucas frowned, this didn't sound good. "What's wrong?"

Chloe looked between the two of them before motioning with her chin towards the door. "Office. Now. The others are waiting for us. I'll tell you all at the same time. Fight you all at once."

Mikhail snorted. "Well that doesn't sound promising."

Lucas frowned.

It really didn't.

It was a closed meeting, only Chloe Balcoin's most trusted were involved, such as her Circle, her Balcoin family, and Victor, Adam and AC. The only ones not in attendance were Byron and Faye, who apparently had yet to arrive. Victor leaned against the wall, silent as he usually was, listening to Chloe explain the marriage situation and watching two of the three males who'd reacted the worst during the Dragon's earlier proclamation. He really didn't know Jason Teague (who, like the Luthors and their team, wasn't in attendance) but Victor had known Whitney and Adam for a little now and had noticed that the two boys had been very close to Chloe. He'd attributed it to the fact that one was her Sanguine, which was apparently a very rare position in the Darkseid Circle that had Whitney so magically connected to Chloe that he could taste when her blood was shed – and the fact that, thanks to the spell Chloe had done to free Adam from her father's spell, her magic saw him as an extension of herself. But when Major Zod had announced to the whole backyard that he was married to the girl, Victor had seen a flash of anger/disappointment/jealousy in the eyes of Whitney, Adam and Jason. It hadn't been the confusion and the general "what the hell?" expression that everyone else had worn on their faces. No. Victor Stone was a people watcher, was used to studying people more than actually interacting with them, and he'd realized at that moment that, while Chloe might be married to Zod, she had three other guys who had some sort of non-platonic feelings for her.

The poor girl, as if she didn't have enough things on her plate, she had to deal with (mostly) teenaged male hormones.

And now this.

Either Zod had realized that he had competition (and actually felt they were competition – which Victor doubted because that would mean the Major would have to actually consider the humans equal to him) or Chloe was actually in (more) danger and had to go back to that place to try and figure out what was going on and why that Council Dragon had done this to her.

"This is probably a trap to get you to go back with him where he can force you to actually marry him." Lucas, the newly discovered Hand, was not happy with this either but Victor could sense no romantic inclination in his unhappiness. Like Greg, his feelings seemed of a platonic nature when it came to the girl. "I know you showed us those scales on your back and his symbol and everything, but even Rao said that there was more to it than Zod realized so I-"

Mikhail narrowed his eyes, leaning forwards as he noticed Chloe flinch and look away. "What else haven't you told us?"

Cassie's eyes widened. "You're telling me there's more?"

Zatanna frowned from where she'd been sitting on the armrest of Cassie's chair, watching everything with confusion and interest.

"It's not a marriage." Chloe licked her lips.

Diana blinked in confusion. "So you're not tied to Zod?"

"I am." Chloe nodded.

"Does anyone else feel lost?" Greg wanted to know.

AC put up his hand immediately.

Cassie reluctantly joined her hand with his in the air.

Whitney put both his hands up. "Chloe, enough with the secrets."

She flinched at his tone, taking in a deep breath. "It's not a marriage. It's a Meld."

Zatanna's eyes widened. "Damn."

Cassie's eyes widened as she jerked her head towards Zatanna, pointing at her accusingly. "You! There you go doing it again! No more all-knowing 'damn' damn it! Share with the rest of the class! What do you know?"

Zatanna's eyes widened as they went to meet Chloe's and she cleared her throat, looking away. "I told you that I wasn't going to comment on anything either way. You want to know something, you ask her and she'll let you know whatever she feels you should know. That's it. End of discussion. So why do you still keep talking to me?"

Cassie narrowed her gaze at her before turning those blues on Chloe expectantly. "Explain the 'damn'. Now."

Chloe sighed. "There's another half Dragon. Rao had Lionel make sure that he was created when Zod refused to come here to marry me the first time. Apparently I was supposed to marry that half Dragon and not Zod." She hugged herself. "When I went to Apokalips, Councilman Seyg did something that messed with whatever Rao did because Zod's the last of his line and Seyg really wanted Zod and I to have 'hatchlings' to further the Zod bloodline. I'm not exactly sure how this works because it was supposed to be instinctual, but he forced it somehow. The same way Rao did at first I suppose with the half Dragon, whoever he is. So I'm tied to the both of them right now until I can find a way to untie myself."

Diana turned to Greg, who was already looking at her, the two dark haired teens frowning at the other.

"That's it." Mikhail stood up from where he'd been sitting. "You're not going."

"Excuse me?" Chloe turned to the dark haired boy.

"This whole story about the orb being one half to some mystical rock of knowledge or whatever…" Mikhail shook his head. "It's a trap. Zod's realized that there's another Dragon out there with a claim on your womb, which he thought was his real estate, something he just had to sit down and wait for. So to make sure that he doesn't have to have any competition, he's taking you to this place of his so he can keep you there with him and breed you to pop out lizard babies 'til the end of times." Mikhail folded his arms over his chest. "I don't like it and I'm not going to let it happen."

"I don't like it either, but I don't think that that's what's going on here." Surprisingly enough, it was Whitney who declared that, although it was obviously killing the boy to have to say it. "Major Zod may be many things, but a coward is not one of them. I really believe that he'd prefer to battle and kill this other Dragon than run from him."

"Hate to admit it," Adam grumbled from his seat, "but he's right. I don't see that guy running from a fight. He looks like he'd actually go looking for the half Dragon and challenge him to a fight."

"Even if," Mikhail wasn't backing down, "I don't want her going."

"Me neither, I'm with Mikhail on this one." Cassie stood up as well. "We hardly got her back the last time."

"My votes with these two." Lucas pointed to Cassie and Mikhail before snickering. "Who would have thought the three of us would be each other's allies? Crazy world."

"Are we voting? This is a vote?" Diana wanted to know.

"No." Chloe shook her head. "There is no voting. If there was, Pete, Faye and Byron would be here."

"Why Pete?" Cassie wanted to know, and then made a face at the look Chloe gave her. "It's a valid question! It's not like he's a part of our Circle, brother or not! He's obviously in the Thoreaux Circle and shouldn't be involved in the decision making of our Circle."

Victor had noticed that: the division Pete Balcoin had amongst the rest of his other siblings. It was interesting because supposedly Mikhail and Lucas hated Diana and Cassie for killing John Balcoin, and yet he'd watched those boys interacting with those girls, and they had a much better relationship with those girls than they did with Pete. Victor actually felt really badly for Pete, whose only siblings who truly seemed to accept him were Chloe and Byron. The others not only didn't seem to like him much, but they visibly distrusted him, and they did not seem to like his girlfriend either, which Victor felt might be a big part of the problem as well. But Chloe loved her brother Pete, was doing her best to develop a friendship with Lana, and was continuing her friendship with Clark Kent, the other boy in the Thoreaux Circle, which was still in the making.

Sometimes Victor thought Chloe's continued efforts of frienship made things worse for them because Chloe's Circles were a highly possessive bunch, even the ones who weren't a part of the official Circle.Sometimes especially the ones who weren't a part of the Circle.

Look at the Lucas issue right now for example. Whitney, Diana and Greg had welcomed him into their ranks with pats on the back and smiles, but Victor had sensed the dark cloud over the others in the room. His initiation had proved that they hadn't been chosen, that yet another seat had been taken. And more and more people were arriving. There was Zatanna, AC, Adam and himself who were outsiders and threats. Lucas, Faye, Greg and Whitney had all proven that in Chloe's Circle, outsiders could very well be chosen over blood. So far the only one who was blood related who'd made the cut was Diana. Probably the only good thing Pete had ever done in the other's eyes was to show his obvious disinterest in joining her Circle, thus liberating his place for someone else.

"Even if he's not a part of our Circle, he's a part of our family." Chloe frowned at Cassie, at the others. "You all need to remember that. Pete is a Balcoin. He's one of us. And he needs family just as much as wedo. I understand that you felt that he was betraying me and you were trying to protect my place but that isn't an issue anymore. I need you all to go easy on him. He hasn't had it easy either, you know."

"You're not having this conversation again." Diana shook her head. "You're coming back this time. Don't say your goodbyes."

Chloe turned to her and nodded with a little smile. "I'm not leaving you guys. But I need to know what's going on."

"You should at least let Whitney go with you," AC announced, clearly uneasy. "I don't like the idea of you going off with that Dragon by yourself."

"Thank you for the suggestion, AC, but I'm having a problem with the Trades as it is." Chloe sighed, giving him a little smile. "If we can't convince the Gatekeeper to open the way for us again, we'll have to work something out and I don't want anyone from here around."

AC nodded silently.

Chloe took in a deep breath. "We'll go, get our answers, and come back." She licked her lips. "And once we come back, we're going to go to find the Genesis Caves."

Zatanna watched her with a frown. "What do you want us to do in the meantime while you're gone?"

Chloe smiled. "A lot of things! We'll be leaving soon after we arrive. So pay attention, I have a lot to tell you all and very little time to say it. Zod's waiting on me."

Victor leaned in closer, paying close attention as Chloe gave them her final instructions.

Yes, he definitely has his moments of playfulness in between his bouts of arrogance.
Lionel - bleh
Lucas - He wouldn't have gone anyway to Lionel's side, though this is the icing on the cake.

Ummm everything that maple said!!!!

Love that Lucas is her hand for the balcoin circle. Can't wait for Lionel to find out that he can't have Lucas for his circle. And boy is Lionel a whiny bitch.

It was interesting to see Victor's take on Chloe and her circles. And like everyone wants to know who else is going to be part of her circles.

More, please!
15th-Oct-2013 12:19 am (UTC)
Lionel will definitely not be happy!!!!!

Okay, trying to figure out these circles...

Currently it's Balcoin: Lucas, Diana and Darkseid: Whitney, Greg, Faye (IIRC) plus Zatanna is bound to her Darkseid side, so she'll probably either join that circle or be an unofficial 7th (or 8th, depending on if you count Chloe) member. Assuming the latter that leaves 4 Balcoin spots and 3 Darkseid spots.

First level contenders would be Mikhail, Cassie, Byron... It's just the left over Balcoins, isn't it? The rest of the main crew have spots.

Okay, second level would be Adam and maybe Vic and/or AC (they are meeting with the inner group, after all). Also whoever turns out to be the half Dragon, especially if it's Jason or Lex.

My guess is that the final circles will look something like this:

Balcoin: Lucas, Diana, Mikhail, Cassie, Byron, Vic.

Darkseid: Whitney, Greg, Faye, Adam, AC, Half Dragon with Zatanna as an extra.

Whoa! Apparently I have A LOT to say about this! Oh well, your fault for writing such a gripping fic ;)

Oh, and also, loving the little bits of Chloe/Adam you're throwing my way. I mean, the Chlod is hot, but I love... Chladam? Probably a bit because there is not enough Chlamon fic out there, but also because your Adam is so sweet. Which reminds me: why do you make me fall in love with these super rare Chloe pairings and leave me with nowhere to satisfy the craving? Just sayin'.

but i thought byron was part of the darkseid circle... he had so much drak powers..... or wasn't he?
12th-Oct-2013 09:14 pm (UTC)
Right! I'd forgotten but someone (Rao? Zod?) said he would be part of the Darkseid circle.

Okay, so then the circles might look more like:

Balcoin: Lucas, Diana, Mikhail, Cassie, Adam/AC, Vic.

Darkseid: Whitney, Greg, Faye, Byron, Adam/AC, Half Dragon with Zatanna as an extra.

My logic for the circle placement is that the Balcoin siblings (bar Byron, thanks maple86 for pointing that out) would be in the Balcoin circle. I'd originally thought both Tentagle brothers would be in the Darkseid circle, due to their lizard connection, but it looks like that might not be the case (unless the Half dragon sin' a new circle new member, letting both Adam and AC be in the Darkseid circle and leaving one unfilled position in the Balcoin one). Vic was kinda a left over (sorry Vic). This configuration is also possible:

Balcoin: Lucas, Diana, Mikhail, Cassie, Adam, AC.

Darkseid: Whitney, Greg, Faye, Byron, Vic, Half Dragon with Zatanna as an extra.

Which keeps the Tentagles together, if their lizard connection is just as much about the Balcoins as Darkseids.

Or, if, as mentioned above, the half Dragon does not join:

Balcoin: Lucas, Diana, Mikhail, Cassie, Vic, ???

Darkseid: Whitney, Greg, Faye, Byron, Adam, AC with Zatanna as an extra.

Maybe Adam will join one of the circles but I don't think AC or Victor will since they are the last of their houses and they can't be bound to another house if they want to rebuild their houses/clans.

I'm not sure about that... You might be right, but we've already seen (with Zatanna) that a) some people will be willing to abandon their house and b) that the 6 houses as they once were can never exist again.

So maybe AC and Vic will try and rebuild their houses almost from scratch.... Or maybe not. At this point it's all speculation. Especially since we don't know how much longer this story will continue, and therefore can't tell how much longer it will be before these circles will be bound.

It's even possible that this two 6 member circle configuration will never take place, because of some new paradigm shift Chloe creates ;)

That is true. Don't know what is going to happen with the whole six houses/clans because there is still one house missing, so we don't even know if they survived or not.

Yeah everything is pretty much speculation because then we don't know what other curveballs SG might throw at us.

Not knowing is the best bit! Or maybe second best after trying to figure it out anyway :)

OK now my head hurts.

I think Victor and AC will probably want to make their own circles. Eventually. I mean I'm not sure they know enough people well enough at the moment. They've not known Chloe long either so I doubt they'll make either of her circles. Maybe members of Chloe's outer circle will end up in one of theirs.

Seriously I'm going to go lie down now.

LOL I love all of this potential Circle debate that has been going on and all the theories everyone has been coming up with!

So.... Does that mean you're *not* giving out hints?
13th-Oct-2013 04:37 pm (UTC) - Awesome as Usual

First, the circle-filling comments were hilarious because that's just what I try to do! It's like fantasy football for "The New Circle". And it's funny how Chloe sees it as permanently binding people to her and tries to give them all the choice to decline while they're all doing the magical equivalent of jumping up and down with their hands in the air going "Ooh! Ooh! Pick Me! Pick Me!" and snarling at the competition. I think Chloe's life would get a lot easier if she just bound her circles with the people she trusts.

As for the people she trusts, AC made it? Really? I see keeping him in a secondary loop, but the Inner Sanctum? Unless she's just trying to keep the trustworthy Sixers informed and keep Adam from having to keep secrets from his only remaining family.

Love that Vic was the observer/analyst for the last part. Everyone else is aligned with or included in the circle candidates, so he's the only truly neutral insider we have... at least on this issue.

I think I remember from a comment response that SG said that we have yet to discover the remaining Darkseid candidate. I *think*. So I'm wondering if it's Bart or Jimmy(bleh) or some other SVL secondary character.

Also, with the idea that the non-Six magic users popped up but weren't necessarily bloodkin to the Six Houses, how did that happen? Muggles too near magical influence for too long (generations?) or caught in spell backlash? Could Van and the other Muggles learn to be Dabblers that didn't stink or hurt themselves or others or is Dabbling just a bad thing altogether?

Eagerly awaiting more!

I have been enjoying reading all the different theories and combos that have been posted so far (and the reasons given for these combos).

You are right, that's how it's going! Chloe wants them to be free and they're like - BIND ME! TAKE ME DAMN IT! lol

Dabblers usually do not end up well at all, which is why it is discouraged in the magic community for anyone who isn't born into magic to practice it. That being said there *are* some Dabblers who practice magic who don't turn evil/insane, but the vast majority can't handle it and it gets them in the end. It's why Chloe's worried that so many of the teenagers are interested in magic.

Yay Lucas made Hand! I'm so glad. In your face Lionel! In your face!

ahem Can't wait for Lionel to find out. He really thought he could get Lucas to join a Luthor circle? After the bloodletting?

Places are filling up fast. Still some spots free though

Exactly right???

Abandon him after all that time then when he sees potential he wants him back.

Bad Lionel. Bad daddy.
